Mornings under mountain ranges
feeling summer breeze
wildflowers pop and sizzle
a heart that’s filled with ease
I sit there on the meadow floor
present, so I got to see
two birds they call each other home
to nest between the trees
Photo: Cranes by a body of water.
I learned that whooping cranes mate for life when I was going through the Montana backcountry. I found it romantic which inspired this poem. They were nesting by our campsite.
